Main scientific program

The Scientific Program has been defined by combining the efforts and knowledge of about 25 members of the National and International Scientific Boards. Besides the Opening Session, we have organized 10 Plenary Sessions, each comprised of four oral presentations, plus 18 Concurrent Sessions (in groups of three), each with two Invited Keynote Speakers and three oral presentations selected by the session chairperson from the submitted abstracts.

The two Boards will select 76 speakers by giving priority to research groups that have provided the most significant scientific contributions in the various fields of MPMI in the last 1 to 1.5 year (mainly based on publications), thus adding novel data to what has been already presented in previous Congresses. It is required and expected that the Invited Speakers provide a "new or untold story" in their presentation.

On top of that, to ensure that enough space is left for the "novelties" we have left open 54 (fifty four!!) slots of 20 min. each in the Concurrent Sessions, to be filled by selecting the most innovative and stimulating stories from the abstract pool.

This means that more than 1/3 of the Congress oral presentations are not pre-selected but depend upon the abstracts presented (Offered papers), and thus determined by the Congress Participants !!    If you would like to give a talk, don't forget to indicate it when you submit your abstract.

Finally, particular attention has been given to the Poster Sessions. Thanks to the facilities of the Hilton Congress Center we are able to display several hundred posters at the same time. We plan to have only one turnover, and thus your poster will be on display continuously for at least three full days. Authors will have the opportunity to discuss their work during one 3 hour-long Poster Sessions in the afternoon without other concurrent Congress activities. Poster Sessions will be de facto plenary sessions to which all Delegates are expected and encouraged to attend.

Parallel workshops on specific topics are also being evaluated and eventually inserted at the end of the Congress. If you have a proposal, please write to the Local Organizers.

A draft of the Session topics is shown below. General titles have been chosen with the intent of mixing different topics rather than grouping the talks by subject. Be ready to hear presentations about "different interactions" together in the same session !!

Come and check it out!!

Congress Sponsors and the Organizing Committee will be offering awards for the "best posters and papers presented by students or young scientists", which will include a certificate and a cash prize. Participate!
